2015 National Student Research Conference a Huge Success!

Pi Sigma Alpha welcomed more than 125 students, faculty, and guest to Washington, DC over President's Day Weekend for the 2nd Annual National Student Research Conference.

The program featured 67 paper presenters from across the United States, representing 40 Pi Sigma Alpha chapters. The meeting was nearly triple in size to the inaugural event in 2014.

On Friday evening the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University hosted the opening reception. Held in the famed "City View Room," attendees were treated to one of the most unique views in Washingotn, overlooking the National Mall and Virginia. Following the reception, attendees took part in a night tour of the National Mall with stops for photos and viewing at the Capital building, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial.

The conference was held for a second year on the campus of Georgetown University. The Department of Government at Georgetown graciously sponsored the use of the space. Panel sessions across all major fields in political science took place over four time slots during the day.  Doctoral students from Georgetown and George Washington universities served as chairs and discussants. The American Political Science Association graciously sponsored lunch for students and guests. Cambridge University Press sponsored a give away bag, with coffee mug, notepads, and pens.

The conference allowed attendees the chance, not only, to present their research in a professional setting but to engage with peers from differnt types of instutations. Attendees came from major research institututions as well as small liberal arts colleges. The diversity of attendess made the event unique.
